Learn how draping can be used as an experimental, intuitive and playful tool theoriser according to form and shape

Course Description

Draping is a unique way to create new silhuets and volumes, and at the same time to develop an understanding of body and fabric. The course gives knowledge of draping as a method and tool and includes theory and practice in this creative working proces.

Draping is an innovative and very creative way to create patterns, and is often used by designers – especially in fashion couture. Patterns are formed by means of a three-dimensional approach to compounds of a garment. This method helps designers to quickly see trends and visual effect of a specic style.

The basic elements of draping will be learned and practiced on this course and you will then have the opportunity to develop your own drape project, or drape your own design based on the skills and techniques learned during the process.


  • Review of basic techniques in draping.
  • Draping of uppers, collars and sleeves.
  • Transformation of upper base form.
  • Draping only by the use of pleats, wrinkles and cuts.
  • Manipulation and transformation through creative use of different techniques.
  • Finishing and presentation.


There will be thorough and individual instruction for all course participants. The course ends with a course certificate.
