Modules
You will be introduced to the course and you will also expand your knowledge of the industry through a thorough introduction to the structure of the fashion industry as well as an overview of what you work with as a designer. Subsequently, we will start with idea generation where we collect inspiration through magazines, websites etc. with a goal to create a collage that can inspire the product development.
Construction of a mini-collection or a product begins, on the basis of the collected inspiration material. Here we will outline ideas in the form of clothing parts, and a common thread between idea generation and sketching will be continuously built.
The work is continued from the previous module, where product development also begins and is thought. Product development takes place by sketching and/or illustrating via computer/tablet where the focus is on form and function.
The sketching from the product development is prepared as flat drawings, where measurements, details and descriptions are added. The flat drawings are prepared so that they can be used for production, where others can read how the design should be produced.
A detail, a piece or a design is selected from the flat drawings from which a pattern is made. The dimensions indicated on the flat drawings are transferred to pattern paper so that patterns are formed for the selected part.
The pattern pieces are transferred to cotton canvas, which is a material used for sewing samples. The various parts are subsequently sewn together on a sewing machine so that they finally form the selected design in a three-dimensional model.
