The course will provide the participants with an overview of menswear, where the participants will explore the most relevant aspects of menswear within the fashion industry

Course Description

This basic course will introduce the participants to menswear with a focus on upper parts and provide an opportunity to learn and develop all aspects within professional menswear based on pattern construction. You will design basic forms for shirts and jackets based on the anatomy of the masculine human body.

The course will introduce exiting working methods to modern pattern development, cutting and the sewing technical aspect in menswear. Furthermore, the participants gain understanding of the construction of menswear and useful tips for better fitting.

During the course, you will make basic tests for some of the patterns you have worked on. Thereby, you can test your patterns for fitting and precision, and by the end of the course you will be able to create your own patterns.


  • Development and cutting basic shirt and vest.
  • Measuring and surveying.
  • Cutting the basic shape of the individual sizes.
  • Testing, adjustment and finishing of pattern parts in stout.
  • Cutting uppers archetype – sewing and adjustment.
  • Different collar details for shirts.
  • Relevant sewing details of shirts and vests.


There will be thorough and individual instruction for all course participants. The course ends with a course certificate.

Unless otherwise stated in the course description, cancellation and refund of the course fee can be accepted until 14 days before the course begins. After this the registration is binding and the fee is not refundable. If a course, contrary to expectations can’t be established, the total course fee will be refunded.
