Her Royal Highness Princess Benedict of Denmark is the schools protector and has established a fund from which the annual Benedict Award is awarded. It was an honour and a pleasure when the princess herself graduated from the school and she has kept close contact with the institution since that time.

The prize is awarded annually to a third-year student at SAFD, who has shown a high level of design and extraordinary excelled with the students graduate collection. Besides winning the prestigious prize, the winner of The Benedict Award will also receive a financial reward.
