Hendes &#8220;hekses\u00f8ster&#8221;, Leonora Carrington, skrev novellen &#8220;The Debutante&#8221;. I historien indg\u00e5r debutanten en symbolsk alliance med sin bedste ven, en hy\u00e6ne, som refererer til Varo, for at undslippe sit eget debutantbal. Et debutantbal er en formel begivenhed, hvor ugifte piger fra overklassen introduceres til samfundet og pr\u00e6senteres for potentielle \u00e6gtem\u00e6nd. Disse baller afholdes stadig forskellige steder rundt om i verden, s\u00e5som England, Frankrig og USA. The Debutante Ball i historien symboliserer en kvindes plads i samfundet, mens det magiske univers repr\u00e6senterer \u00f8nsket om at \u00e6ndre dette sted.<\/p>\n<p>Jeg har hentet inspiration fra kontrasterne og lighederne mellem disse to universer.
