Teacher

René Gurskov

René Gurskov graduated from the Scandinavian Academy of Fashion Design (formerly Margrethe-Skolen) and has for several decades run his own fashion brand, which has been very successful in the Asian market. René also teaches at the school's 3-year education program.

Modules

We start by exploring how to build a personal design universe. You’ll learn how to research and analyze your target audience, identify current trends and reflect on sustainable approaches to fashion. The result is compiled in a visual moodboard that serves as a foundation for your further work.

You will be introduced to material science and experiment with textiles, surfaces and structures. In minigine, you test ideas in 3D to understand proportion, volume and silhouette – and how the material affects the design expression.

Through collages and quick sketches, you’ll explore the shape world of the collection and develop your ideas further from the visual presentation. The focus is on creating a common thread between concept, form and expression.

You create an overall line-up where the collection pieces are presented with colors, materials and silhouettes. This can be done both analog and digital depending on your preferences and experience.

Finally, you will learn how to assemble your project into a professional presentation that can be included in your portfolio or used for further admission to design education.
