Course Description

The Fashion Trend Forecasting course will introduce you to the different aspects of trend forecasting and give you an understanding of how trend forecasting works in practice and how it is used in the fashion industry.

On the course, we will start with an introduction to what defines trends and tendencies, and how it has changed over the past 20 years. We will look at different trend forecasting companies and the ways in which they work to achieve their clients’ goals and needs.

Then we will dive into the different aspects of trend forecasting. We want to look at catwalks and fair analyses, as well as the most relevant retail and consumer trends that exist. This will be followed by a trip in and around Copenhagen, where we will show how a trend researcher collects trends in the city’s most inspiring locations. We will also review and argue the importance of finding inspiration from unique sources in order to better anticipate the latest trends.

The course participants will then be taught in how to create a trend moodboard. This will include both colors, prints, silhouettes, textiles and detail inspiration. The final project will be to design your own visual trend moodboard. Here there will be time for individual sparring and feedback.
