Teachers
René Gurskov

Mikkel Johansen
Mikkel Johansen graduated from the Scandinavian Academy of Fashion Design (formerly Margrethe-Skolen) and works as an independent fashion designer and product developer.
Modules
The course begins with an introduction to the professional design process and the methodological approaches that form the basis of working as a fashion designer.
Participants build an understanding of how ideation and visual research are structured and used as a foundation for a coherent design expression.
Through the development of mood boards and inspirational material, students work on collecting, selecting and analyzing visual references. The focus is on how shape, proportion, silhouette, color and mood translate into a clear design concept.
Based on the research, participants develop an individual concept and a small lineup of styles. You’ll also be introduced to working drawings as a technical communication tool so that ideas can be communicated accurately and professionally.
In the final part of the course, the design ideas are translated into concrete products. Participants are introduced to basic pattern construction based on their own design proposals and work with cutting and preparing materials.
Under continuous professional guidance, a prototype is developed and sewn in the school’s workshops. Students gain practical experience in understanding materials, fit and sewing processes.
The course concludes with the finalization and presentation of the developed design. Participants receive individual feedback and present both process and result to the team. After completing the course, a course certificate is issued.
