Pattern Cutting and Sewing Techniques (Advanced)
Consists of theory around model development and designing patterns using sustainable solutions. Advanced sewing techniques will also be included, after which a course with advanced techniques and solutions as well as haute couture techniques will be introduced.
Syllabus
Basic theory around model development is reviewed and the students produce basic shapes in paper. Variations on the basic forms are reviewed and the student is tasked with creating a portfolio with executions of basic basic forms and variations on these in quarter size. The student is continuously tasked with carrying out a designer’s work on a half- or full-length figure, in order to show an understanding of the design techniques. In addition, the students must design a portfolio with samples of different sewing techniques, which are made before each project.
Advanced sewing technique is presented, where the student must go through courses with advanced techniques and solutions. At the same time, haute couture techniques are introduced to the students. During the tailoring process, experiments are carried out based on the basic principles of tailoring on half and full mannequins.
