Print - Scandinavian Academy of Fashion Design

Print

Consists of analogue and digital manufacturing methods for design products and/or design concepts and preparation of files that suit the technology used in the fashion industry. The course is about the preparation of original designs for print use with the aim of creating unique and sustainable fashion that is durable.

Syllabus

The students are introduced to the various printing and cutting techniques. We work with 3 subjects in the first task – an item by the metre, as a motif or repeat print and placement on clothing. Facade print (frame print) technique and design in solo colors. Final laser cutting in fabric, leather and metal.

For all 3 projects, the students test the files with Danish/European suppliers. In the next task, we work with design and inspiration – from 3D product to metered goods and scarf formats. The course ends with an introduction to digital knitting. In the last assignment, work is done with prints etc. in connection with the students’ graduation project – either as a theoretical part of their research or actual meter goods that are used for sewing.
