Internships are an essential part of the program and offer students a unique opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practical experience. Through the internship, students get the chance to improve their skills by working with real challenges and issues in a business context.
During the internship, students are actively involved in the company’s daily work and participate in projects that support the company’s ongoing development. This allows them to test and refine the skills they have acquired through their education while learning to navigate a professional work culture.
During their internships, students have the opportunity to broaden their horizons, establish professional networks and acquire practical knowledge. This is crucial for their future career in the fashion industry. Internships therefore not only support students’ professional development, but also their ability to apply their skills and theoretical knowledge in the real world.
Internships are organized so that the student gets an in-depth knowledge of the field a designer works in. In dialogue with the company, the student formulates a problem, which must both form the basis for the student’s work in the company as well as the practical assignment, which must be handed in after the end of the course.
SAFD contributes with support and networks in the internship search process, but it is up to the individual student to secure an internship and solve the tasks that are set during the internship period. Should this in some cases not be successful for the student, the school offers an alternative program with a particular focus on immersion, business knowledge and practical experience. The students must carry out a case study as a conclusion to the project.
The purpose of the internship is as follows:
