History of Fashion
Consists of theoretical and knowledge-based teaching. Including an understanding of fashion and its history, which is a necessary background for future creativity. To be used as fashion inspiration for future fashion collections. There should also be a focus on inspiring useful ideas from the history of fashion to the present day.
Syllabus
The task is to find a characteristic male and/or female costume from the style period and choose one or more interesting details or garments to describe and visualize in its context (time & place – cut, shape & silhouette). Then the detail or cladding part is made in the chosen material.
The project will be used as fashion inspiration for future fashion collections. There should also be a focus on inspiring useful ideas from the history of fashion to the present day.
Materials for the project can be found in fashion books, museum websites, museum brochures and postcards. The student must find original costumes from the periods. It is possible to use the school’s books as inspiration – and find the correct costumes within the different style periods.
