COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK
As the only private fashion school in Scandinavia, Scandinavian Academy of Fashion Design has been a part of Copenhagen Fashion Weeks official show calendar for years.
Participation in Copenhagen Fashion Week provides the graduate students an opportunity to promote their work. The students’ benefit from attention gained from the media, design companies, buyers, bloggers and others. Additionally, graduate students from Scandinavian Academy of Fashion Design have been mentioned and their designs have been pictured in national and international media. Participation in Scandinavian fashion events, such as Copenhagen Fashion Week, makes the education from SAFD a great opportunity for the students to enter the international fashion industry.
Copenhagen Fashion Week is the biggest Nordic fashion event and takes place twice a year, respectively in February and August. More than 40.000 international buyers, designers and press visit Copenhagen during this event. Besides the fashion show held in August by graduate students from SAFD, Danish and international upcoming and established fashion companies participate. The large exhibitions Vision, Gallery, CIFF/CIFF Kids with a total of 1.100 exhibitors represent 2.400 international collections within the category of fashion design and are open to national and international buyers.
The purpose of Copenhagen Fashion Week is to gather, support and facilitate shows, events and similar activities during this week and to market and communicate these through media and communication platforms. At the same time, Copenhagen Fashion Week provides services that should enhance the level and make the week available for professionals. Furthermore, Copenhagen Fashion Week has the purpose to market the week internationally as an important fashion destination and to position Copenhagen Fashion Week as “Fashion Capital of Scandinavia”.
