Upcycling
Consists of circular design approaches, where utilization of already existing resources will be the focal point. Sustainable design products are developed and created that have a commercial and marketable expression and communication material is prepared with a view to selling the products.
Syllabus
Students will apply design principles and hand sewing and construction techniques to produce a unique piece of upcycled, sustainable clothing and they will gain the necessary skills to execute their design ideas, based on deconstruction and reconstruction techniques.
The students must produce a design based on existing products that add new value. The design can be an upper part (top, shirt, blazer, coat etc), lower part (skirt, trousers etc) or accessories (hat, bag, shoes etc). The process includes research, inspiration, sketches, illustrations, material selection, pattern construction, photo documentation, working drawings and styling. The project is finally presented in an overall visual presentation.
