Materials

Knowledge of materials and methods for acquaintance and understanding of design products and concepts with the use of analogue and digital tools.

Syllabus

During the course, the students must work with natural fibres, including vegetable fibers and animal fibres, as well as chemical fibres, which deal with regenerated fibres, and synthetic fibres. Weaving types, knitting types and fabric designations will also be taught, and the students will gain in-depth knowledge of new textile materials through various material tests. A material folder is made and various tests are carried out. Insights into cotton production are conveyed through a visual presentation.

  • Must be able to understand the industry's use of visual communication.
  • Must have development-based knowledge of materials as well as analogue and digital tools and means for visualization, prototyping and production.
  • Must have knowledge about the properties of textile fibers and weaving types, as well as which clothing parts they are suitable for.

  • Must be able to assess practical problems as well as set up and choose possible solutions.
  • Must be able to analyze and assess the use of relevant material and technology in relation to the production of design products.
  • Must be able to use relevant tools in the preparation of prototypes and design solutions.

The student

  • Must be able to acquire skills to convey and communicate ideas and designs in production processes and in relation to the design field.
  • Must be able to analyze textiles in relation to manufacture, material and use, as well as have knowledge of finishing and insert materials for the manufacture of clothing.
