Syllabus
The design process is an experimental process, where research and idea development are the starting point for the creative process which provides inspiration, information and shows the creative and narrative path to a collection. In the process itself, trends, social, cultural and political topics are worked on, and emphasis is placed on silhouette, material, shape, colour, details, print and decoration. Research is a journey of shorter or longer duration, which ends up with the realization of ideas that can be translated into a collection.
During the course, the students will work with investigation, registration, experimentation, design, trends, culture and society.

Design Process
Month: September 2023
Consists of the design process, which includes design research, design methods, aesthetics, sustainability and industry and user needs based on sociological research methods and trend analysis.
What is a collection and how is it created? What influence does the political, social and cultural aspect have? Sustainability? Audience? These topics are processed at the same time as several sketched solution proposals with the possibility of different shape and material options are worked on. The focus is on the material in connection with design, manufacturing process, target group, sales promotion, branding etc.
Syllabus
During the course, the students must work with research, analysis, criticism, assessment, concept and goal setting. We are working with several sketched solution proposals with the possibility of different shapes, lines and material options. The focus is on the material in connection with construction, manufacturing process, etc. In the material-specific process, the sketching phase will often transition to the direct production of one or more products using form, material, drapery and construction trials.

Digital Design
Month: September 2023
Consists of digital graphic design in connection with product development, fashion working drawing and presentation material. Provides technical digital skills so that the student will be able to carry out digital design work for professional purposes.
Syllabus
Using Adobe’s teaching material, the student will gain familiarity with the programs Illustrator and Photoshop. During the course, Illustrator’s various tools will be taught, where the primary focus is on clothing parts, design and construction, textile surfaces and fashion graphics. Furthermore, students will become familiar with Photoshop, learn all of the program’s tools, and develop the student’s skills to produce professional quality images. During the course, the students must work with work & fashion drawing, target chart, image processing and drawing techniques.

Digital Design (Advanced)
Month: September 2023
Combine creative, aesthetic and technical design skills. Work will be done with 3D sketching, both analogue and digital. There will be a focus on the student’s individual experimental work with form and material based on different techniques.
Syllabus
The teaching will have an emphasis on the student’s individual investigations and ideas and will introduce different construction methods and experiments, both analogue and digital. Emphasis will be placed on an investigative and testing approach to the subject, and the teaching will primarily be carried out through practical work in the workshop with lasercut and in the 3D visualization program CLO with continuous guidance and feedback.

Upcycling
Month: September 2023
Consists of circular design approaches, where utilization of already existing resources will be the focal point. Sustainable design products are developed and created that have a commercial and marketable expression and communication material is prepared with a view to selling the products.
Syllabus
Students will apply design principles and hand sewing and construction techniques to produce a unique piece of upcycled, sustainable clothing and they will gain the necessary skills to execute their design ideas, based on deconstruction and reconstruction techniques.
The students must produce a design based on existing products that add new value. The design can be an upper part (top, shirt, blazer, coat etc), lower part (skirt, trousers etc) or accessories (hat, bag, shoes etc). The process includes research, inspiration, sketches, illustrations, material selection, pattern construction, photo documentation, working drawings and styling. The project is finally presented in an overall visual presentation.

Pattern Cutting and Sewing Techniques
Month: September 2023
Consists of basic pattern cutting and sewing techniques followed by relevant tasks for a better understanding of design, technique, finish and quality.
Syllabus
Basic theory around model development is reviewed and the students produce basic shapes in paper. Variations on the basic forms are reviewed and the student is tasked with creating a portfolio with executions of basic basic forms and variations on these in quarter size.
The student is continuously tasked with carrying out a designer’s work on a half- or full-length figure, in order to show an understanding of the design techniques. In addition, the students must design a portfolio with samples of different sewing techniques, which are made before each project.

Pattern Cutting and Sewing Techniques (Advanced)
Month: September 2023
Consists of theory around model development and designing patterns using sustainable solutions. Advanced sewing techniques will also be included, after which a course with advanced techniques and solutions as well as haute couture techniques will be introduced.

During the tailoring process, experiments are carried out based on the basic principles of tailoring on half and full mannequins.

Concept Development
Month: September 2023
Deals with the development and design of concepts and solutions for the target group. Value-oriented work is carried out with research, analysis, sketching, collection building and development of presentation portfolios with a view to formulating proposed solutions.
Syllabus
During the course, the students must work with research, analysis, sketching, collection building and development of a presentation folder. During the course, the student must be taught in various departments within concept development, from decoding the trends of the time to use in launching a brand.
Concept development is a fast and efficient method for creating a concrete solution based on the ideas you have worked with, and the students must therefore concretize the main idea behind the selected ideas, so that it is developed into a strong concept.

Materials
Month: September 2023
Knowledge of materials and methods for acquaintance and understanding of design products and concepts with the use of analogue and digital tools.
Syllabus
During the course, the students must work with natural fibres, including vegetable fibers and animal fibres, as well as chemical fibres, which deal with regenerated fibres, and synthetic fibres. Weaving types, knitting types and fabric designations will also be taught, and the students will gain in-depth knowledge of new textile materials through various material tests. A material folder is made and various tests are carried out. Insights into cotton production are conveyed through a visual presentation.

- Must be able to analyze textiles in relation to manufacture, material and use, as well as have knowledge of finishing and insert materials for the manufacture of clothing.
Material Testing
Month: September 2023
Provides knowledge of techniques, methods and processes in the field of materials as well as experimental technologies and design tools that contribute to process and product development, with a focus on materials technology and sustainability.
Syllabus
The students make three-dimensional observations and material tests in continuation of their research project. In addition, there will be work with print and color pigmentation in various designs and crafts such as lace, knotting and embroidery in new crystallizations with modern fabrics and thread. The students prepare new materials using bonding techniques, and knit with cut fabric and different types of yarn.
An individual course of study is run, where the teacher, after reviewing the student’s research project in collaboration with the student, guides each individual in relation to the student’s level to develop material samples, textile prints and finishes. Finally, students must complete a solution proposal that must include a selected material proposal.
